STEVEN SOHLSTROM: AUTHOR, FILMMAKER, DIAGNOSED WITH BRAIN TUMOR REQUIRING IMMEDIATE SURGERY

¬† Hi everyone. An unexpected CAT scan revealed a brain tumor ,yesterday, large enough to warrant immediate surgery (next wednesday). I feel in good, hands and I am not scared, but know there will be side effects warranting a few weeks of post-op therapy…risk of stroke, etc… Im concerned about it effecting my writing ability ,of course, because Iam having trouble hitting keystrokes….slicing a chunck of my brain out in that center of concentration center propabably won’t help. I am in good spirits….maybe it all hasn’t hit me yet… I was told to apply for Social Security and advised that I shouldn’t plan on any sailing quite soon. That about made me cry. The technical description of the tumor made made evident of the risks in removing it…and had an afternoon meeting with a bright young speech pathologist who was very reassuring that I was coming a from a great starting place in respect to articulation………..I studied the MRI’s again just now….how the heck are they going to get that safely away from my brain and out of my skull? I have no idea how I felt no symptoms. At least I’ll finally get a new haircut. MORE UPDATES AND CORRESPONDENCE CAN BE FOUND ON MY PERSONAL FACEBOOK PAGE…. Images forthcoming:   Speech adversely affected. I am improving daily since the second surgery (yesterday…when a late ER visit prompted immediate surgery…where excess blood removed) Difficulty was expected with speech. I guess its the medication. I anticapate I full recovery. Its called something like Aphasia. Mayo Clinic definition :¬†Aphasia is a condition that robs you of the ability to communicate. It can affect your ability to speak, write and understand language, both verbal and written. Aphasia typically occurs suddenly after a stroke or a head injury. I am convinced that the medication to prevent the brain from swelling was causing this. The surgeons and the nursing staff are taking excellent care of me…and I am grateful for them. I can’t thank them enough for being patient with me.   “SHIPWRECK STEW” ALSO AVAILABLE AT THE PAPER COLLECTOR GALLERY IN DOWNTOWN ST.CLOUD IN PAPERBACK! eBook Shipwreck Stew Steven Sohlstrom $2.99

On-Set With Elizabeth Allen, Director of “Ramona And Beezus”

¬†¬†Steven’s Facebook Hoversled Page + ¬† In April, 2009, I boarded an Alaska Airlines jet with a strange¬†looking package bound in holiday wrap. It was extremely fragile, and a large, odd shape that would not fit well in the overhead compartment…”How is this going to work”, I wondered? I need to get this package with me to Vancouver, BC. The solution to getting my unusual¬†bundle on the plane was to ask to put it in the forward closet of the aircraft, and¬†away we flew. ¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† My first stop was Seattle, where the bundle¬†was carefully unwrapped and the contents assembled with dozens of smaller parts. The¬†item was actually a small airplane: the Mynah Bird. It was an RC photo aircraft with a forward looking HD view, and it was enroute to the¬†set of Elizabeth Allen’s latest theatrical feature; Ramona and Beezus with the mission of grabbing some aerial video and background plates for a special effects sequence for the movie. I had spent the last week designing and building the airplane and equiping it with an expensive new camera. The mission wasn’t an official part of the studio production, but an experiment, and an opportunity¬†to do something completely amazing and¬†maybe even¬†historic. ¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† The prospect of building an airplane to get shots for a movie was not something that happened overnight. I have had the opportunity to know Elizabeth Allen since her years as a film student at USC Cinema, where I¬†assisted her on a handful of student productions. It was a completely fortunate event for me to meet and get to know Liz, because she was an extremely ambitious and visionary student with a lot of already well established mentors. I was just a guy from Minnesota with a lot of free time and aspirations to work in film as well, so we made a good team in the moment. After my stay, I returned to Minnesota to work and save money for what I hoped would be my eventual return to Los Angeles.   ¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Even after returning to Minnesota, I ventured back to L.A. several times to help Liz on a couple of movies, and at times just to catch up. Liz was always such a gracious host. On my¬†next return trip, I worked on her first 35mm short film where I experienced the thrill of learning how to load a Panavision film magazine from one of the camera assistants. Being on-set is great, but I think it was the work leading up to production that¬†is so interesting to be a part of; driving around Hollywood with Liz to do important things like pick up the film “short ends” (leftover film rolls from studio productions), tech scouting locations and meeting important people on the crew like the Director of Photography, etc. But it seemed like Liz always had important people around her, experienced talent that already had professional movie credits, and casts that included real stars and people that we all recognize from film and television.   ¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† The … Continue reading

From Unicorns And Aliens To Mental Health Counseling: A Convenience Couple’s Journey Of Self Manipulation

My name is Steve/n and I accepted Jessica Schab’s challenge to research the EOF Project further…that is as if my own direct experience wouldn’t have been enough to be well informed of their destructive lunacy. Here is my broader impression and interpretation of Jessica and Diego’s EOF project based on my own personal experience with them, the confusing vision statement from their website, a few of their YouTube interviews, and the inclusion of some testimonials also found on the website. The challenge came as a result of a true-life documentary I made called “Living in Fear” that I guess focused too much on us (the victims) and not enough on “them” (Jessica and Diego). I acknowledge the sensitivity of their egos and I will work my best here to amend the balance of our story to allow for more face time to Jessica and Diego. Keep in mind that my voice as a victim and “Living in Fear” was nearly silenced by false and weak legal actions, but when I finally did release it, ¬†I did so of necessity to protect myself from their ongoing very serious and defamatory attacks…and that only happened many months after a leaked version of the film was released by the other victim in our love story. At that time, “Living in Fear” had about 12 views. Today the film has sped past the 3000 views mark and has resulted in a thorough exposure and ongoing dialogue concerning Jessica and Diego’s alleged crimes. I am far from alone in my dislike for these rascals as you can discover in the opinions of others scattered about the web. ATTN: Jessica, to quote one of my favorite lines from a movie starring a much better known cult member named Tom Cruise; “Remember…..you wanted this.” (Jessica has had ample opportunity to diplomatically resolve our situation and I have a well established personal reputation as a peace seeker… For some reason that just doesn’t work for Jessica’s narrative at this moment.) Let’s face it, especially ¬†under the circumstances, I’ve probably been a little bit too nice. Keep in mind, I’m still doing my best to protect the other victim- and not everyone is appreciative of the unconditional love and forgiveness I’ve been oozing about the internet. People wonder how long I will keep excusing her actions and protecting her identity. Some days I wonder too. Let’s get started. First of all, I stand by my statement that the EOF project is a sham, and at a moral and academic level far worse. They have recently scrambled to evolve from their past failure in Bali (and admittedly harmful failure according to Jessica Schab), and are currently embarking on a new and more spectacular failure in Portugal. The EOF project is simply an attempt to rebrand Jessica and Diego’s business of “how can I make my clients emotionally dependent and keep them buying my expensive subscriptions to further nonsense”. Nothing new, right? When they previously introduced themselves as a convenience couple … Continue reading
